My Story

After YHS Did one year at Hollins College now Hollins University, Roanoke, VA a semester at AU in WDC met Kent A. Taylor got engaged, graduated from Washington School for Secretaries September 1974, married KT and had a bicentennial girl, Rachele, in 1976. Separated in 1977, then divorced.

Worked for Northrop Corporation, Rosslyn, VA for 2 years, met Richard S. Orr then at Stanford Telecom in McLean, VA. We married in 1980 and I moved to Montgomery Village, MD to his home there. Rachele was entering school, and I went back to study nursing a I had an intense interest in OBGYN Nursing. After I got my BSN, RN I worked at Suburban Hospital for a year, then went with the MCA, above. Anna came along in 1987 and I continued to work with the midwives after she was born.

Worked for several doctor's offices, then for PWLC Weight Loss Center in Gaithersburg. Switched to substitute teaching in 1998, working for MCPS in Montgomery County, MD as the hours were more advantageous. Rachele became pregnant in 1991, and we extended considerable assistance to her so she could finish High School, which she did. She married the fellow, and they had another boy. Thus, Joseph and Benjamin are contemporaries of our youngest, Anna.

I returned to Nursing in 2007, working flu shot clinics and shortterm assignments. Anna attended BYU, graduating in 2010. Rachele went to Austin Community College and received her Associates Degree in CADDrafting Design. She remarried in 2006 after divorcing first husband. The current husband is the better one for sure.

We bought a country home in 2005 and moved to Boyds, MD, living there for11 years before Rich decided he should retire in 2015, and I did as well. Relocated to Bluffton, SC near Hilton Head Island, where we had enjoyed bringing our children and grandchildren for so many summers!

I immediately signed up to volunteer using my RN at Bluffton-Jasper Volunteers in Medicine. I also love history and work at Heritage Library on Hilton Head Island, a second volunteer job. Rich and I sealed our marriage in the Washington, DC Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints in 1985. We are both active in Church, and currently I hold a position there as second counselor in the Relief Society Presidency, our very old and honored women's organization. Rich has his focus on the jazz music scene here, and plays with no less than and sometimes more than four separate jazz ensembles, as well as writing and arranging for them. We keep quite busy!
