My Story

I graduated from Nursing School and my first job, as an RN, was at Arlington Hospital. My second was at Georgetown University; I finished my BSN at George Mason University and missed graduation, as I was in California on a internship (sponsored by Georgetown) for Neonatal Nurse Clinician program. A few years later, I began working in Nursing Homes and happily had them pay for my Masters at Johns Hopkins. I eventually became a Director of Nursing, where I hit the very real glass ceiling, being asked to train young male, BA graduates, in how to be a leader, so that they could become Nursing Home Administrators. Since "I was too valuable where I was", I left, and went out and started my own company. I retired in 2010, and we spend the next two winters in Breckenridge Colorado, as Guest Services volunteers, for the resort. That, was an awesome experience! I retired, (for the second and last time,) in 2015, after 41 years as an RN. I married my husband Bob in 1988, and we are still happily together. We lived in an motor home from 2010 to 2020, traveling the country, including spending the summer of 2013 in Canada and Alaska. Due to the pandemic, we put "plan B" into action, and sold the large 40 ft. RV, bought a condo in Sun City AZ, and then purchased a newer, smaller RV to continue traveling for 6 months each summer. So here we are, in No. Virginia, at the Knights of Columbus, where I spent every summer, swimming and playing! We are now spending our winters in sunny, warm, Arizona.
